Consequences of Extension Ray Theory of Seismic Wavefields

(Denisov M.S. )

The asymptotic operator for ray-theoretical forward and inverse seismic wavefield extrapolation is “calibrated”. As a result, a simple derivation of an expression relating the traveltime derivatives with the geometrical spreading factor is developed.......

Deep Seismic Studies of Paleozoic Rocks in West Siberia

(Salnikov A.S. Kuznecov B.L. Kanareykin B.A. Titarenko V.V. )

The results of analysis of some geological and geophysical profiles in West-Siberian plate, which based on seismic tomography processing of DSS, data are given. It’s shown that in the upper part of the Earth’s crust there are two refracted boundary. The thickness between them in some regions reaches 10 km and in terms of stratum velocities it is like oil gas volcanogenic sedimentary Paleozoic complex within the Siberian platform. Under conditions of West Siberia the CDP method does not provide the necessary information about the Paleozoic structure. In this connection we used seismic interpretation of CR data processed previously in the region. Processing of previous CR data with two-dimensional seismic tomography can make it possible to get additional geological evidence very important in searching for oil and gas pool in Paleozoic deposits, in particular, to reveal carbonate reservoirs favorable for ПС accumulations in them without laborious and expensive field work.......

Hydrofrac Geometry Monitoring by Downhole Microseismic. Risks and Successes

(Gogonenkov G.N. Aleksandrov S.I. Bandov V.P. )

The usage of innovative geophysical technology for hydrofrac geometry determination namely microseismic (passive) well monitoring is discussed. This technology was advanced by authors using the improvements of data acquisition and processing techniques that allows to increase operating efficiency including the usage of old well reserve. The microseismic technology operation guidance are given and monitoring technology risks are highlighted. The results of the application of microseismic technology in the oil fields of the West Siberia and the Republic of Kazakhstan are presented.......

Interpretation of Downhole Wave Acoustic Signals’ Spectra

(Moiseyenko A.S. Muraviyov S.A. )

The paper describes some theoretical aspects of borehole sonic signal spectrums interpretation. It contains some remarks to the Biot’s theory of propagation of elastic waves in porous media applying to behavior of real rocks and fluids. There are also formulas for estimation rock physical properties by sonic signal spectrum characteristics. The results of logs interpretation experiments are also provided and discussed. The described approach can be useful for a wide range of sonic measurements in the field of porous media acoustics.......
