DISCERNIBILITY OF THE THEORETICAL MODELS OF THE FRACTURED RESERVOIRS BY THE MEANS OF SEISMIC PROSPECTING

The qualitative and quantitative distinctions of the effective velocity models based on different mathematical approaches to the structure of fractured media with regular set of fractures are analyzed. The sets of anisotropic parameters in effective medias are compared. The dependences of Thomsen’s parameters on the density of fractures are estimated. The theoretical possibilities of the identification of the type of given effective model via its seismic characteristics and influence of the chosen type of effective model on results of prognosis are discussed.......

NUMERICAL SIMULATION/MODELING OF SEISMIC WAVE RESPONSES FROM MEGAFRACTURES - FRACTURED CORRIDORS - AIMED AT IDENTIFYING THE MEGAFRACTURES ON SEISMIC SECTIONS

Seismic wave responses from near-vertical megafractures of different internal architecture were investigated by employing numerical simulation/modeling. In profiling surveys where point sources were used to generate seismic energy, diffracted and duplex waves emanating from the lower tips of megafractures were found to carry most complete information about those megafractures, with the diffracted and duplex waves being dynamically best pronounced at the source locations well distant from the projections of the megafractures to the day surface (0.5 to 1.0 of the megafracture depths). Here, the duplex migration may be used to identify the megafractures on the seismic sections.......

MULTIARRIVAL AMPLITUDE-PRESERVING PRESTACK 3D DEPTH MIGRATION

The implementation of asymptotic multiarrival 3D seismic migration with multi-path propagation and caustics of the Green’s functions is presented. The migration is based on a new asymptotic solution of the wave continuation Dirichlet problem in a parametric ray coordinates with no singularities, or in a Cartesian coordinate system with integrable singularities. The numerical solution demands on the adaptive ray tracing and the total beam indices calculations. The migration of input common-offset vector gathers is realized. The results of the migration serve to gather azimuthal 3D common image-points seismograms. Such seismograms are used to obtain the stacked seismic image cube, as well as for azimuthal AVO analysis and inversion. The testing results of the developed program on synthetic SEG salt data and real seismic data of Timan-Pechora are presented. They are compared with the single-arrival Kirchhoff migration results.......

DEVELOPMENT OF PSEUDOSPECTRAL AMPLITUDE-PRESERVING 3D DEPTH MIGRATION

The mathematical base, numerical algorithm and technology of amplitude-preserving pseudospectral 3D depth migration are presented. The algorithm based on the new high-accuracy approximation of depth extrapolation operator. A hybrid migration implementation has been developed that combines high-accuracy and economical pseudospectral Green’s functions computation and a Kirchhoff-type traditional integration, which provides operating with common-offset vector input seismic data. Pseudospectral computing of Green’s functions is associated with a lot of 2D Fourier transforms, that involves the use of GPU acceleration and CUDA technology. The testing results of program implementation on synthetic data set SEG salt compared with asymptotic migration are presented.......
