Lev Lvovich LYAKHOV

Professor, a leading research worker of MGRI-MGGA. Form 1932 to 1937 he worked with the Institute of Applied Mineralogy as a collector and lab assistant, participated in geological surveys in the Urals, Kola Peninsula andTranscaucasus. L..L..Lyakhov entered MGRI in 1937, graduated from it in 1947 (after the Great Patriotic war), then taught and researched at its department of exploration geophysics. Twice he was dean of the Geophysical Faculty. He was engaged in search for and exploration of oilfields in the North Sakhalin, coalfields in the Moscow basin, ore deposits in the Polar and South Urals, Kazakhstan and Yakutia; he dealt with the problem of «old» ore regions of Transbaikal, engineering geophysics related to the development of virgin lands, surveying for construction of water-power stations on the River Volga , and studying landslides at the Black Sea shore. During the last 15 years he is involved in marine geophysical surveys at the shelf and continental slope of the Black Sea and the Sea of Japan.

L.L.Lyakhov is author and co-author of more than 110 scientific works including monographs and manuals. Laureate of the State Prize.

He has been working in geophysics for 61 years.
